NEWS RELEASE....HARP
will be closing its doors.
HARP
has hit a desperate time. Without someone to take over running the daily operation
of HARP, HARP will close their doors on January 1st, 2012. I can no
longer devote the time required or handle the emotions of daily involvement.
HARP currently has four (4) horses in the system, listed on the adoption
page. We will be attempting to place these guys, but if they do not find homes
the foster homes have agreed to give them a forever home.
I have eluded to this happening for over a year now and have asked for someone to step up on our talk group site, but
with the times no one has been able to do it. We have three paid members at this
time, and no stable board of directors, which says a lot.
I would like to thank those that have stuck in there with me and those that have sent monetary support from time to
time. I know we all love the horse. The
organization will be dissolved according to the bylaws and to the benefit of the horses left in the system.
ABOUT
US:
Hooved Animal Rescue & Placement (HARP) is a 501(c)3 non-profit humane society devoted to protecting horses and other livestock animals in South Louisiana since
2002.
Based in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, HARP works with local and state
law enforcement authorities on reported cases of abuse or neglect. HARP members first seek to educate animal owners.
When an owner chooses to donate the animal to HARP or the animal is seized by law enforcement, HARP can provide transportation,
rehabilitation and placement into a new adoptive home.
HARP promotes responsible, humane care of horses and other livestock animals through education to owners and
law-enforcement professionals.
In addition, HARP assists in finding homes for animals whose owners are unable to keep them.
TO ADOPT:
Please visit our "Animals For Adoption" page to learn about animals currently available for adoption. A
waiting list is kept of people interested in adopting animals other than those currently available. HARP strives for
the best match possible between adopter and and animal. Because of this, prospective adopters must complete application
forms. An adoption donation, based upon the general value of the animal, is also required.
REPORTING
ANIMAL CRUELTY:
Under Louisiana State Law, livestock animals are protected from inhumane treatment, including neglect.
